Harder SAT Math Module 2 Practice
If module 1 goes well, the digital SAT gives you the harder Math module 2. It decides whether your score lands in the 700s, and its last questions are the hardest on the test. Here you can practice it on its own.
What is in the harder module
Like every Math module, it has 22 questions (20 scored and 2 unscored pretest questions) in 35 minutes, ordered from easiest to hardest. Unlike module 1, most of it is hard. By this site's estimate, built from official College Board data, about 15 of the 20 scored questions are hard (difficulty bands 6–7 of the question bank), about 10 of them in the top band 7, with a few easier questions at the start.
Why the last questions take so long
Band 7 is the top of the question bank's difficulty scale, but it holds a wide range. In the College Board's own practice tests, where Math questions run from easiest to hardest, the band-7 questions placed in the last two spots have much longer official solutions than the other band-7 questions: about twice as many math steps (a median of 30 math expressions against 17), and they are typed-in answers twice as often (45% against 22%). That matches what many students report: the final one or two questions of the harder module can each take five minutes or more.
The harder Math module 2 here ends the same way, with two of the band-7 questions that have the longest official solutions. They are marked 7+ in your results.
A quick section score
Taken alone, module 1 is counted as all correct, and you get a Math score from your module 2 answers. As a rough guide from this site's scoring model: all 20 right is 800, one or two wrong is about 790, three wrong about 780, four wrong about 760. The results also show the time you spent on each question, so you can see whether the last questions ate your time.
How to practice it
- Open Tests and choose Harder Math module 2 under One module.
- Use Desmos and the reference sheet as you would in Bluebook; mark questions to come back to.
- Afterwards, review every question with its explanation, redo the ones you missed, or let the site point your practice at your weakest skills.
There is a harder Reading and Writing module 2 too, and both easier modules.
